CLASS 22 CULINARY COMPETITIONS
BAKING RULES:
- No mixes allowed or purchased pastry and pie filling
- All entries to be exhibited on small disposable plates, Styrofoam trays or foil covered boards and covered with plastic wrap or clear plastic bags
- Entry tags must be attached firmly
1. OAAS Butter Tarts. Open to all ages. (3) Homemade Butter Tarts (including pastry), (raisins allowed - no fruit or nuts) displayed on a clean paper plate inside a clear plastic bag with exhibitors name and address on the exhibitors tag. Entries must be full size tarts (no mini or bite sized tarts) Recipe must be attached. To be judged on presentation, appearance and flavour. Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd $8, 3rd $6
2. MFAS Homemaker’s Special – 3 Tarts (your choice), 3 Tea Biscuits, 1 small jar of jam. Displayed in a basket.

3. Loaf of White Bread (not bread machine)

7. Crisco Family Favourite Recipe Baking Contest - Best homemade butterscotch pie using Crisco shortening or oil. Judging will be based on appearance, taste, texture and recipe creativity. Must be accompanied by proof of purchase.
Prize: 1st $25 Product Certificate, 2nd $10 Product Certificate
8. Robin Hood Family Favourite Recipe Baking Contest - Best homemade berry muffins (3). Judging will be based on appearance, taste, texture and recipe creativity. Must be accompanied by proof of purchase.

Junior Baking Section
9. Robin Hood Family Best Lunchbox Snack Contest - Ages 12 years and younger. Best Homemade cookies, squares or bars. Judging will be based on appearance, taste, texture and recipe creativity. Must be accompanied by proof of purchase.
Prize: 1st $25 Product Certificate, 2nd $10 Product Certificate
10. OASS Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition - Plain chocolate chip cookies (3), with no nuts, displayed on a firem disposable plate. Cookies must be no larger than 3" (6.75 cm) and no smaller than 2" (5 cm). Contest is open to youth up to age 15 years. First place winner will be eligible to enter at the District Competition.
Prize: 1st $5, 2nd $4, 3rd $3
CANNING RULES:
- All canning must be sealed properly and in 250ml or 500ml Mason jars with snap lids.
- No food colouring.
- No wax on jars
- Entry tags must be attached firmly to the jar with elastic band or string
- No decorations on lids

Collection of 5 jars of preserves/pickles in Bernardin Mason jars and snap lids. Judge will select winner based upon creativity, quality of home canned product, perceived value and appropriateness of presentation.
19. Bernardin Jam/Jelly Award Prize 1st $20 Gift Certificate
Best jam or jelly using Bernardin pectin, subitted in classes 11 - 14. Winning entry must include proof of purchase.
20. Bernardin Best of Show Award - Pickles/Relish Prize 1st $20 Gift Certificate
Best pickle/relish entry in a Bernardin Mason Jar and snap lid, submitted in classes 15 - 16.
